Homes we’ve lived in over the years.

UPDATE: 082308

Okay, today marks 16 days since I originally injured my back. Sixteen days ago, I was doing pushups which is a pretty boring activity normally. To help pass the time, I decided to watch the television while I was doing my pushups. Imagine your chin lifted high raising your head enough to see the TV a couple feet above your head. It is poor form to say the least. Well this put enough strain on my lower back to cause my disc between L4 and L5 to bulge/rupture.

During next couple of days, walking became much more painful and cramping and numbness occurred up and down my left leg. Finally, I visited a doctor to find out what was actually going on. I was sent to get an MRI which clearly showed how my disc was pressing on my nerves and spine.

The treatment for this is medication for pain and swelling and time – lots of time. I was told that it would take several weeks minimum and up to a full year to recover entirely. Beyond that, a small percentage of people require surgery to relieve the pain.

I’m feeling a little better, but still have trouble walking normally and without pain. I’d estimate I’m feeling about 50%. So it will be a long road ahead, but I am optimistic that I’ll be past this in the next several weeks.
